I have had sinus issues since I was in high school(allergic to my pups, pollen, grass, mold.... just everything that I breath in Houston) I ended up going to an ENT to get weekly allergy shots and ended up switching to drops which you take everyday in the comfort of your own home.....
10 years later...... I'm pregnant and good bye sinus pressure headaches, snoring and allergy issues. Now almost 2 years after my last pregnancy, my issues are coming back......cough cough HARVEY! The drops help but I want to see if there's any new developments in the field and would rather do something homeopathic but also scientifically proven to work.
Cue BreatheMD with Mary Talley Bowden, MD: board certified in othotlaryngology (training at Stanford) and sleep medicine. Her whole concept is making the Dr visit convenient, cost effective and comfortable. Lifting the vail that you need OTC or antibiotics everyday to combat your issues. Therapies such as sinus therapy, allergy immunotherapy, and infrared sauna all or in some combination to help relieve your sinus issues.
Sinus Therapy: steam inhalation, facial percussion, saline irrigations, facial massage and nasal suction.
Had the saline irrigation last Thursday and though its a really bizarre sensation with the tip to say "NEHNEH" it was relatively painless and it throughly cleaned out my sinuses. I would rebook this procedure as often as a facial (once every 3 months) speaking of..... this usually comes with a facial steam and massage to counteract water being sprayed up your nose at high speed. End treatment on a high note.
Because I attended the open house (Sponsored by Beautycounter) one of their specials was unlimited use of infrared sauna for 1 month at $100
Infrared sauna: 3 in 1 ( Purifiy-Slenderize-Energize) Its been proven to deliver the highest dose of infrared light that's as enjoyable as sunbathing without the burns. Infrared is part of the sun's invisible spectrum of light, the infrared heat ->heats the body and not the air. Consists of 3 wavelengths: near, mid and far; that those different spectrums are effective at producing different health benefits.
Benefits: detoxification, weight loss, lowers blood pressure, anti-aging, cell health, relieve pain, improve circulation, heals wounds. 95%-99% effective
I Love a sauna and I definitely had body aches from hard coughing and my sinus pressure headaches were awful with all this rainy weather. I couldn't wait for a nice sweat.... cue towel wrap, spa headband, nice heat, soothing music and chilled peppermint body towels. Plus I brought my own sheet mask and gel eye mask... TREAT YO SELF Was out like a baby in 5 minutes!

REAL TALK: I learned that Dr. Bowen offered this treatment on Thursday and otherwise knew only of IntimaLase an invasive photothermal procedure to tightening the vaginal canal. Since my 2 darling children are products of vaginal births, I knew my pelvic muscles were going to be mush eventually but having this awful cough this past week... was the final nail in the coffin. My issues with incontinence was no longer a laughing matter (haha its not funny to pee your pants when you laugh). I have no control and kegels are great if I can remember to do them, this treatment consists of 6-30 minute sessions (equivalent of 11,200 Kegel exercises). I needed all the reinforcement I could get without a huge price tag(not cheap but doable compared to other procedures) and had be painless. Sit in the chair, crank it up to 100 and feel a series of vibrations and crossing my fingers this works.
Variety of Massages and Facials.
Review: Clean, comfortable, knowledgeable, reasonably priced(check for specials) but all in all, a one stop shop for my ENT needs and then some. Im happy to have found this place and looking forward to adding this regime to part of my regularly scheduled health plan.
